We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions, for your ease of reference.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.  We would love to hear from you!

Question:  Do you offer consultations?

We offer a free, no-pressure, consultation by appointment only for wedding cakes.  We are pleased to offer to meet you at your home, if this is more convenient for you.  We also offer evening and weekend appointments.

At your consultation you can expect to taste some of our delicious cake and filling flavours, review our portfolio, discuss serving size, flavour combinations and design styles.  We encourage you to bring color samples, pictures of cakes you like and questions.  If there are particular cake and icing flavours you would like to taste test, please let us know your top three choices of each in advance, otherwise we will simply choose several of our most popular flavours.

Question:  What information do we need to bring to the consultation?

One of the first things you need to decide is the number of guests.

Secondly, you need to determine whether your wedding cake will be the only dessert served and how you intend to serve it to your guests.  You may choose to serve your wedding cake in typical coffee size portions in addition to another dessert, or use your wedding cake as the only dessert.

A typical serving size is 1”x 2”x 4” high, and the prices on our website are based on this serving size, as being in addition to another dessert.  If you choose to have your wedding cake the only dessert served at your wedding, the serving size and calculations will need to be adjusted accordingly.

You will also want to think about whether or not you will want to keep the top tier of your cake for your first wedding anniversary, or if you will want extra to serve at your gift opening the next day.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU MAKE US AWARE OF ANY ALLERGIES.  With nut, dairy and gluten allergies getting more common and severe, we need to be aware of any allergies that you or your guests may have.  We also offer vegan alternatives.

If you are having a topper or special decorations (e.g. fresh flowers), you will need to provide those to us in advance.

Finally, we will need to know whether you will be arranging for pick up of the cake, or whether you will want us to deliver and set-up your cake.  We will need to know the time and location for any deliveries.

Question:  What cake and filling flavours do you make?

The list of flavours on our website is only a few of the ones that we make.  We are able to provide you with almost any cake and filling flavours you desire.  If you wish, each cake can be a different flavour with a different filling, at no extra charge.  Our designs are only limited to your imagination…if you can dream it, we can make it.

Question:  Do you deliver and set-up the cake?

Yes, we offer delivery and set-up in Spruce Grove and surrounding areas for a nominal charge, and highly recommend this.  Please see our pricing guide for further details.

Question:  Do you require a deposit?  When is payment due and what form of payment to you accept?

We require a $100.00 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking with us.  Payment in full is due two weeks prior to the date of your event.  Currently we accept payment via Paypal, cash or cheque only.  There is no goods and services tax charged on our cakes.

Question:  How far in advance do you make the cake?

Most cakes are started several days prior to the event.

Question:  How do I preserve the top tier for our first wedding anniversary?

Traditionally, brides and grooms freeze the top layer of their wedding cake until their first anniversary to get a taste of the cake they barely got to see on their wedding day.  Please keep in mind, however, that certain cakes freeze better than others.  For example chocolate or carrot cake freeze much better than white cake.

Simply have the catering staff remove the top cake layer, remove any decoration and items that will not freeze well, such as decorative flowers and box it at the end of the night.  Then place the cake in the freezer for two hours to allow the icing to harden.  Then wrap the cake three or four times with plastic wrap, place it back in the cake box and wrap the entire cake box with three or four more lawyers of plastic wrap.  Do not use aluminum foil, as that can cause freezer burn.  Upon request, we are pleased to offer you a complimentary cake box for storage.

Place the cake box back in the freezer and mark it accordingly.  Leave it there until it is ready to be eaten on your first wedding anniversary.  Try not to remove it from the freezer, even to transport it home, because that can disturb the moisture levels.  Also, try not to store your cake in a frost-free freezer, as the constant defrosting will draw the moisture out of the cake.

When you are ready to enjoy your cake on your first anniversary, first allow the cake to slowly thaw in the refrigerator for 48 hours and then another two to three hours at room temperature.
